Tyrconnell is a Single Malt whiskey produced from the Cooley Distillery, owned by Kilbeggan Distilling Co.
The name Tyrconnell originated with a race horse that one a long-shot race, against the odds, back in 1876. The horse was owned by the Watt family and after it won, they named a whiskey after it. The brand name remained with the family until the distillery closed in 1925. The racehorse can now be seen depicted on the label of the whiskey bottles.
